When I first decided that I wanted to declutter our home I was very overwhelmed! I knew my motivation for decluttering, that was the easy part.  But the actual decluttering part was what got me.

We had tons of stuff in most rooms of our home.  Most drawers were full. Our closets had stuff we no longer needed. The basement shelves had boxes we hadn’t opened since we moved in. I wasn’t really sure where to begin.

Have you ever been there? It can be so easy to give up before you even begin.

Something that helped me get past the fear of starting was putting together a list of the rooms I wanted to declutter and things that I knew I could declutter right away. In the corporate world, we refer to those items as low hanging fruit. Quick wins to give you the encouragement and momentum to keep going.

I have created for you a free printable checklist to take around your own home and declutter 100 things! 100! That is a lot of things to clear from your home. To create a little bit more space for you to breathe and spend time doing what brings you joy.  Now you definitely don’t need to do all 100 things in one sitting. You can take your time. Maybe you want to pick one page to do today, or maybe just start with one area to complete today.

But once you have decluttered the first 100 things from your home I bet you will want to declutter 100 more. 🙂

While you are waiting for your printable to be delivered to your inbox feel free to get started on decluttering one of your bathrooms now!

Bathroom

  • Expired medications
  • Sample toiletries
  • Shampoo or conditioner bottles you partially used but don’t like
  • Makeup
  • Nail polish
  • Old lotion
  • Towels that are worn or double extra. I had purchased new towels since ours were getting worn and snagged, but instead of donating the old ones I just kept them. Finally got rid of them!

I have organized the checklist by room with only a handful of items for each area.  The hope is that you are not overwhelmed by the list but are encouraged that you can do this.  You may not have everything on the list in your home and that is totally ok!  Pick something else you do have that you want to get rid of.  The point of this checklist is to build momentum and inspire you to peel back the layers of clutter in your home.

Print out the list and check things off as you go.  It’s very satisfying!!  Once you have completed the list share a picture on social media and tag #idreamofsimple. Or send me an email. I would love to see your progress!!

  1. Love this! We’ve been on the decluttering process for about 5 years casually, the last 2 being pretty serious. I find that decluttering is an ongoing process. So, I’m going to use your list to (hopefully) take my home to the next level.

    • That’s great Lauren! Decluttering is definitely not something that you do once and you’re done, unfortunately. I hope the list helps you think of some new areas to tackle! Good luck! Let me know how it goes. 🙂
