welcome to i dream of simple

My Story

After living in a home for 8 years you tend to accumulate a TON of stuff!!

One night while I was picking up the toys in our living room, trying to put all the pieces back where they belonged and not just in one big pile, my husband made the comment “sometimes more isn’t more, sometimes less is more.”  Luckily he was helping me clean up, otherwise I may have been a little upset with his comment. 😃

As he was cleaning up he took the liberty of decluttering some of the toys on his own.  I found out later that he doe this every time he picks up the toys!

Soon I realized that “more is more” was the norm around our home.  Since having our two kiddos we have TONS of toys.  My closet is jam-packed, but I have nothing to wear.  love to do crafts, but since having our son I don’t have the time or really the energy to do the same kinds of crafts I used to do, but I still have boxes of supplies.  Holiday decorations….need I say more?  I was becoming a “stuff manager” and that takes precious time away from my family.  In order to really be organized I first need to simplify, simplify and simplify some more!  You can’t organize clutter, right?

I Dream of Simple

I want to build a simpler home and I started this blog as a way to hold myself accountable. And if I share a new idea or a lesson learned that helps you along your journey too, well that is just icing on the cake.

We are moving this summer and one of my goals is to declutter and minimize our stuff before we move. No sense in moving all this stuff if we never even take it out of the box!

Here you will find how-to posts, personal before and after posts, my lessons learned, inspiration, tools, and hopefully a community to help you along your journey as well.

I am glad you are here and I hope you stick around!
