Inside: Learn about 3 meditation goals I am working on during February.
For 2018 I chose one word (BREATHE) to focus on and learn ways to integrate the word into my life.

To add to my one word, I am selecting a different mini goal or challenge to focus on each month. Need to catch up? Read this post to learn about why I am focusing on just one simplicity challenge, goal, or habit each month.
For a list of all the simplicity challenges I am working on this year, scroll to the bottom. This list will be updated as the year progresses. So feel free to follow along!
How Can You Get Involved?
I am so glad you asked! At the beginning of each month I will share the challenge or mini goal here on the blog. I will share my action plan and how I will measure success using the SMART goal system.
>> Grab your free SMART Goal worksheet here.
At the end of the month I will share how I did in my weekly-ish newsletter (sign up here and receive a free decluttering checklist!), on my Facebook page and on Instagram. Feel free to follow me in one of those places and let me know how you did with the challenge as well!
For February, I am focusing on three meditation goals. Keep scrolling to read more. 🙂
February’s Focus
During February the simplicity challenge I am focusing on is meditation. There are a host of benefits that you can read about below.
I have already dabbled in mindfulness but when it comes to meditation I have not been able to develop a consistent habit. I am hoping to change that this month!
Benefits of Meditation
A google or Pinterest search will leave you with SO. MANY. benefits of meditation. It’s exciting and overwhelming at the same time just how much good can come from such a seemingly simple activity. I found this awesome infographic highlighting some of the many benefits of regularly practicing meditation. This will be one of my motivators for keeping up the challenge this month!

3 Goals to Succeed at Meditation
1. Read one book about meditation by the end of the month.
I plan to read The Headspace Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness: How Mindfulness Can Change Your Life in Ten Minutes a Day. My hope is to learn more about the benefits of meditation and different techniques to try. Have you read any other good books I should check out?
2. Pick one app and stick with it for the month.
I chose Headspace since that is what I already had on my phone. I tend to get in research mode, which can be good, but can also hinder you from moving forward. By setting this goal I am forcing myself to not look at other tools, until the month is up and I can get a really good feel for this one.
I want to use an app because it has reminders, community and prepared meditations to choose from. It really helps take some of the guesswork out of how to meditate. Do you use a meditation app you love?

3. Start small.
This will be crucial to really get into the groove with meditation. I have tried practicing regularly in the past but my streak was only a couple of days in a row. I am going to start with only 5 minutes per day for the first week and then work my way up to 10 minutes per day. Most of the Headspace sessions are 10 minutes so that is what I will stick with for the month.
More Resources to Reach Your Meditation Goals
Books – I have not read most of these, but these had top ratings in Amazon, so I thought they would be worth a look.
Apps – There are a bunch of apps to help you meditate, besides Headspace. This post has a great list to check out!
Podcasts – If you don’t want to use an app, you can listen to whole guided meditations on podcasts too! I have not listened to all of these, but doing a quick google search these seemed to be a few of the most popular! Have you listened to any or do you have any you love to listen to?
Videos – You can also watch videos with guided mediations. You can check out a few roundups from other blogs here, here and here.
